Vague Affections for Berlin is a series of collages produced during my stay in Berlin, Germany with Takt Kunstprojektraum.

The name of vague affections is a reference to the book published in 1901 called Thought Forms by Annie Besant and Charles Leadbeater.
As a part of late-Victorian mysticism discussing visual auras of color, or the idea of synesthesia, the book is filled with beautiful images of the suggested imagery of different emotions.

Each collage is comprised only of Berlin sourced magazines- specifically DDR magazines from the 1970's, tea stained, and layered with vellum.
Each collage represents its own emotion experienced while navigating and finding home in a new place.
