Jewelry has a very specific effect on the wearer, and there is an inherent relationship between the body and object. By addressing that connection, and creating pieces that challenge the boundary between object and jewelry, I am posing a question to the viewer. To function as an object or jewelry are both legitimate purposes. I want the viewer to take time to consider these dual roles. How faraway from convention does a piece of jewelry have to go before it is no longer perceived as a piece of jewelry, and becomes simply an object? By creating unconventional pieces with conventional purposes, there is an opportunity for investigation, and discovery of an intended purpose for the piece.
